According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV), about 23% of America’s homeless population are veterans. That is somewhere between 529,000 and 840,000 veterans who are homeless at some time each year. Because of this, the Department of Veterans Affairs and other non-profit organizations have devised a number of initiatives to help our homeless veterans. VBA’s Acquired Property Sales for Homeless Providers
This program makes all the properties VA obtains through foreclosures on VA-insured mortgages available for sale to homeless provider organizations at a discount of 20 to 50 percent, depending on time of the market.
VA Excess Property for Homeless Veterans Initiative
This initiative provides for the distribution of federal excess personal property, such as hats, parkas, footwear, socks, sleeping bags, and other items to homeless Veterans and homeless veteran programs. A Compensated Work Therapy Program employing formerly homeless Veterans has been established at the Medical Center in Lyons, NJ to receive, warehouse, and ship these goods to VA homeless programs across the country.
HUD-VASH
This joint Supported Housing Program with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides permanent housing and ongoing case management treatment services for homeless Veterans who would not be able to live independently without the support of case management. HUD’s Section 8 Voucher Program has designated over 10,0
00 vouchers to Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) throughout the country for Veterans who are homeless. This program allows Veterans to live in Veteran selected apartment units with a “Housing Choice” voucher. These vouchers are portable so that Veterans can live in communities served by their VA medical facility where case management services can be provided.
Supported Housing
This program provides ongoing case management services to homeless Veterans. Emphasis is placed on helping Veterans find permanent housing and providing clinical support needed to keep veterans in permanent housing. The staff in these programs operate without benefit of the specially dedicated Section 8 housing vouchers available in the HUD-VASH program but are often successful in locating transitional or permanent housing through local means, especially by collaborating with Veterans Service Organizations.

In 2006 i filed bankruptcy, to try to stay in my forclosed home long enough to finish raising my kids, since 2007 in oct i lost that home and have been live with relatives friends and children since. i have been unable to get and loan consideration to try to even buy a motor home for a primary residence, thinking it would be cheaper than a home , for a better chance to get a loan. wondering where to find a loan for a motor home or home

Motor homes are outside of my area of expertise. You would essentially be applying for an auto loan and would be held to those lending guidelines.
